Joan of Arc was a poor teenaged girl who became a French hero. How did she do it?
The Call to Battle
In 1412, two groups were fighting to pick the next king of France. The Burgundians wanted the English king to be the king of France, too.
Joan went to meet Charles. He was impressed by Joan’s charisma. She asked Charles to let her lead his army. Charles agreed.
Joan’s Legacy
Many years later, the Catholic church overturned her guilty verdict. In the 20th century, they made Joan a saint. Joan of Arc has been remembered for hundreds of years.
